Hello and welcome. It becomes an article that is GREATLY needed. At the very least I believe that it is. I started wearing makeup around age 14 and whenever I began, it was an unacceptable shade for my skin. So! I am attempting to speak out for the Beautiful, Brown-Skinned Black Women that have as hard a period of time finding makeup because i do. So, i want to offer you a little background on me.
To start with, Black is beautiful, as well as the darker the berry the sweeter the juice! That being said, at 14 I found myself a bit blackberry with no clue. When I first started wearing makeup it absolutely was just lipstick plus it began being my mom’s Fashion Fair. My mother who seems to be light-skinned and possesses a daughter who is dark-skinned. Needless to say her lipstick did NOT match by any means. I was even known as dark-skinned Ronald McDonald from a previous ex-boyfriend!
So, I really believe that us brown-skinned and dark-skinned women need a little extra help as it is more difficult for people like us to get make-up that suits in drugstores, or makeup dark skin which is affordable. Plus Cosmo and Glamour and all of them be talking about great make-up for spring, but uh, hello have you forget black girls like makeup for spring too? So, I feel your pain. I am just a self-appointed make-up aficionado, and want to offer my experiences and also some products which are FABO and never so much fabo. So… without further ado, let’s get going!
JUST AN FYI: These are generally all make-ups which i have gotten to use through trial and error and so i am sharing from EXPERIENCE!
FACE: I struggle to look for a foundation, and full-coverage makeup that is certainly affordable so below are a few wonderful finds that we are finding which can be both.
1-Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Foundation- Spicy Brown
PROS- it is good at matching skin tones that have yellow or red undertones, spreads easily of course, if you only need moderate coverage offers you a great bang for your buck. It is actually affordable ranging about 6-8 bucks, and you may think it is in many drugstores, and grocery stores.
CONS- If you have brown spots and blemishes, this may NOT give you the policy you require! Not actually close, okay? It also wears off quickly so you would need to reapply often. The bottle is upside down after some spout, when you pour out an excessive amount of, you are unable to use it during the bottle and in these periods of financial meltdown er’ little counts am I right ladies?!
Also, if you have troubles matching your skin layer tone since you have BOTH yellow and red, or perhaps blue and red undertones, this collection is probably not to suit your needs because there is not really a vast selection from which to choose, so you may must go forward. Other shades that are great for brown-skinned to dark-skinned gals, and some individuals fellas! Rich Mink, Sheer Espresso, and True Ebony.
2- Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
PROS-It will give you more coverage compared to Liquid Foundation. That’s it. That’s about all I could think of.
CONS-Unfortunately, it rubs off QUITE quickly. It is additionally tinted slightly differently compared to liquid foundation so I found it harder to fit my skin. Also, when it was warm outside it wipes RIGHT off, and revealed every blemish on my face! LOL, furthermore, it wipes off in your clothes, stains the hands, the whole bit. It’s moderately priced at the same time, so if you want to look nice to get a date at nighttime, going somewhere cool, it’s a quick fix, but I wouldn’t use it for the club, or a carnival, anywhere that might be warm, or sweaty. It also comes in a similar.
3- Black Opal True Color Liquid Foundation – Black Walnut
PROS-Awesome Coverage. There is a reasonably bit within the bottle so that it will last you quite a while. It is really an upright standing bottle having a generous opening, so when you pour out a lot of, it won’t be too difficult to get back into the bottle, so you can SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! I wear foundation every day, sometimes wash my face and re-apply if heading out that night, and this bottle lasts me about a good two months or so. You will find that it ranges from about 8-12 bucks… based on your location. So it will be an excellent buy.
CONS- If you have combination to oily skin, WEAR POWDER, while keeping it with you! During these upcoming warm to hot days, you may look really greasy in the face. But if you continue Blotters together with you, or powders, you need to be okay. Also, it may be that MY skin changes, in case that is the case disregard, however i discover that after i visit buy a replacement, the shade may well not match just like the previous one, so be mindful of that.
Another con is Black Opal Products could be a little harder to find in stores than other products that I mention. I don’t determine if it’s that they’re not that popular, or what, but whenever I look Normally i discover them in either Rite-Aid, or CVS. So, happy hunting. Other colors good for brown-skinned girls… Carob, Suede Mocha, and Ebony Brown….. And also for you borderline caramel to brown-skin girls, Hazelnut!
4-Maybelline Pure Make-Up (Shine Free Foundation with H2O) – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- Very economical, easy to find. Located in Most drugstores, supermarkets, Wal-Mart. Costs range about 5.99-10 bucks, depending on your region. Full coverage, doesn’t clog your pores, spreads easily.
CONS-Upside-down tube, so you should be exact about how much is necessary for the face, cause if you are using an excessive amount of… it is going to go to waste. Limited colors for darker skin tones. They only have THREE shades for women of OUR color. Dark 1- Tan, Dark 2- Caramel, and Dark 3-Cocoa. We have used the Cocoa. It can be way too dark for my skin-tone.
However, the Caramel Dark 2 is simply too light. So, if you are pressed for money and don’t have the money to experiment, I wouldn’t waste my time on this product. They already have FIVE shades devoted to light, FOUR for medium and just three for us darkies??!!! Leave this device alone, until you occur to match EXACTLY. Good luck evading the lady who attempts to watch you whenever you try and sample the merchandise inside the store!
5- Black Radiance Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Makeup- Cocoa Bean
PROS-Very inexpensive! VERY! Somewhat accessible. Costs about 5.99-10 bucks, and you can think it is in a number of Beauty Supply stores, CVS carries it. Spreads evenly, good coverage, get a great deal for your personal buck. Also, can be purchased in a jar having an open spout, so if you have too much, you are able to put it in there. Offers you a nice matte finish.
CONS- Cocoa Bean fails to match my skin! Nevertheless I also provide strange undertones occurring with my skin, so which can be why it is actually so difficult to match. Once you apply this make-up it dries an alternative color, it’s crazy. There’s this… weird… applicator thingy, unsure how to handle it, however it just got inside my way basically. Says it is useful for all kinds of skin, but I have very sensitive skin on my small face, and i also found that within half an hour my face was suffocating and that i needed to wash it away. Other shades to use are Brownie and Mocha Honey.
6- L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup- Nut Brown
PROS-Oh my goodness you guys this make-up was awesome! Spread really, fantastic! Matches wonderfully to get a yellow undertone. Does indeed a brown-skinned girl justice. Light, which means that your skin can breathe. Good coverage for girls with blemishes. Pretty readily accessible, and i also claim that with hesitance, because 7 times from 10 they will likely carry all However the shades for brown-skinned. Um, I see them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens..and that’s basically it.
CONS- This product has SPF and I am VERY allergic to sun block thus it broke me out something terrible. Type of difficult to get. It’s a bit more expensive in comparison to the previous products mentioned. MMM, I would say about 10.99 and up. You might be able to find it for sale. Also, there may be not a whole lot in the bottle, so use sparingly when you can. Other shades to try out…. Soft Sable and Cocoa.
7- Revlon Color Stay Make-Up with Soft Flex – Mahogany
PROS- Pretty easy to find in many drugstores. Colors are great for brown-skinned girls. Sort of affordable. Just a little around the higher end but about 9.99-12.99 with this product. The policy is okay… Not the ideal, but should you be looking for light to moderate coverage this is a good product.
CONS- Now, I discovered that Mahogany failed to match my undertones that great. I understand…. Again with the undertones. It dried and made my skin look a little grayish and chalky. There is 58deyypky really a good selection to choose from for darker skin tones. Has SPF6, unhealthy for me, but good for anybody who is not allergic. Also, again, if you don’t possess the undertone problem…. Other shades to test… Cappuccino and Mocha.
And finally but Not necessarily least…
8- Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- OH MY GOSH…… loving the product!! (sing song voice) this is basically the current comprise I am just using now! It def does what the commercial says. It covers your pores, and offers you with a great finish! Maximum coverage! Need NO concealer, well… maybe slightly, nevertheless i don’t use any. It is rather affordable, anywhere from about 7-10 bucks. I came across it right on the Kroger supermarket, so it should be offered at most pharmacies. It has a nifty little nozzle that squirts out and it’s really convenient. Also, it is whipped feeling, and so i apply with my fingers.
It merely glides directly on, and begins covering all my pores and dark spots, along with its not too heavy, I don’t have to use a bunch. The best also comes off, in case I over-squirt, I will place it right back in the bottle. There’s lots from the bottle, and you also don’t need to use a lot for coverage. I feel I purchased this bottle monthly ago and so i continue to have a little bit more than half a bottle left. It’s great! I adore it. Hopefully this will be the end in the road to me, but usually it isn’t!
